Kick Off to Summer

Happy Memorial Day! We enjoyed a fun weekend in Florence... We went out on the Tennessee River with Rebekah and Roddy and somehow by a miracle of God we went "kid free" on Saturday. Parker went to the Allens, Jon Walt at my mom and dads, and Tate with CiCi. We had all afternoon to enjoy the boat, sun, and great food (Roddy has to be one of the best Green Egg operators in the South). We even slept until like 8am on Sunday and woke up to a quiet house! Then we enjoyed some down time with Robbie's parents (again, more great food), and headed home on Monday to relax a little in our home.
Parker got in his baby pool this afternoon and LOVED it. He isn't scared at all, he just splashes and giggles. And has figured out how to crawl in and out of the pool, so he loves that game. It's really cute (as you can see below). And of course, ice cream was involved.

Hard Habit to Break

Well it's been a little while since I've posted, mostly because there is just too much to say. But I decided to start somewhere, and spread some of the joy we've had the past couple of weeks. In the midst of pain and healing, there has been alot to celebrate! So, here goes:

1) My first Mothers Day! Breakfast in bed, then a picnic lunch, and three knockout rose bushes for my kitchen window. And most importantly I got to spend time with my favorite boys (all three of them).




2) I turned 29. And am not feeling as old as I thought would. Thank goodness. I got another weekend of sweet treatment (back to back weekends of mothers day and birthday... poor Robbie). He arranged for Parker to spend the night with GiGi and Grand-D so we went on a date night: dinner at Bonefish Grille (bang bang shrimp, please) and to see Chicago in concert. So fun. But my favorite part, you will see below, a great swing for my back porch. We have already LOVED it.




3) One more "happy"... I officially am a LPC! That's Licensed Professional Counselor and it basically means I've sweated 3,000 clock hours of counseling and passed my licensing exam in Alabama so I can do private practice. But I love where I am (The Enrichment Center... www.theenrichmentcenter.org) and truly love being able to make a difference in the lives of people. I am so thankful God put this calling on my life.

Treasures in Heaven

Baby Mills was a treasure for us here on earth for 6 weeks, then became a treasure in heaven last Saturday. Our family is left with broken hearts, but we do know the Healer. Robbie and I had the priviledge and joy to see him at Vanderbilt on Saturday before he passed away and were able to hold him and rock him and love on that sweet baby. No words can express my gratefulness for those moments that God gave us with that child. I believe his tiny little footprint left a bigger footprint on many lives. Mills came into this world with great purpose and I am thankful that he brought me closer to the Father.

I had the honor to write my nephew's obituary for the Times on Tuesday. For those of you who did not see it:
Mills Thomas Methvin passed peacefully in the arms of family and met the face of Jesus on May 1, 2010. His life on earth was six short weeks but served immeasurable purpose in glorifying God. Mills drew others around him closer to his Heavenly Father. He was loved deeply and prayed for by so many. Mills is the son of Roddy and Rebekah Methvin of Florence. His proud big brothers are Tate (3) and Jon Walt (1). Mill's grandparents are Larry and Debby Wright and Rodney and Brenda Methvin, all of Florence. His great-grandmother is Pearline Methvin. Mills also has many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Martha Aldridge, Dr. Stephen Keith, Dr. Wayne Melvin, and the nurses at ECM Hospital for their special care in bringing Mills into this world. The family also gives great appreciation to all the many people who faithfully prayed for Mills during this time. A graveside memorial will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery for family and close friends. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
