2 Month Check

Last week Parker went to the doctor for his 2 month check up. He got a great report...growing healthy and a BIG boy. He weighed in at 14lbs 8 oz and 25.5 inches long. He was in the 90th percentile of weight for his age and the 99th percentile for his height. Basically, if Parker were in a room with 100 other babies his age, he would be taller than 99 of them! He is in the 50% (average) height for all 5 month olds! So, he definitely has the Allen genes as far as his height goes. And he's outgrowing all of his clothes but we are happy he is healthy and has such a good appetite.
The day of my appointment...look how long I am!

Best Mommy Reads

I love to read and have been reading anything that looked worthwhile about pregnancies or babies since finding out we were pregnant. The best reads for me were books recommended by others. So, for what it's worth, here are my top 3 favorite reads and most helpful reads as a new mommy so far:
Baby 411 literally does have the 411 on everything...great reference book on all things baby!

Happiest Baby on the Block is great for parents with fussy babies or colicky babies...gave me a whole new perspective and it works. Wish I would have read this sooner!

Love the Moms on Call book for another reference book, but particulary the sleep chapter and just kind of knowing what a day with a baby is supposed to look like (whether or not it actually does!)

Updates!

It's been a few weeks since my last update so there's lots of news...
Parker is now 10 and a half weeks old. He is a chubby little baby now and growing so fast. We are going for his 2 month check up next week so I'm anxious to see how much he weighs. He is barely fitting into 3 month outfits because he is so long! He is smiling and cooing and enjoying his toys and swing more. He is still having some trouble with his reflux. It can be really tough sometimes but we are forging through.
This week I started back to work...I am slowly adding on hours and next week I will start my new 3 day a week schedule. I'll be working 20 hrs a week - Mondays, Weds. and Thursdays. We feel blessed to have a lady we met through a friend (thanks boo!) who also goes to our church and great family to help us with Parker while I'm at work. I love my job, so it's the best of both worlds. I didn't even cry on my first day! =)
We took our first vacation with Parker - stay tuned for pictures .I must admit that a week at the beach was great with the Allens but Robbie and I quickly realized vacations with a baby are a lot of work! Babies don't sleep in or relax by the beach. We did have a great time though!
